Non ha un richiamo storico-culturale a un passato proprio perchè ambisce a esserne il superamento. Non ha una nuova ideologia a cui ispirarsi perchè nessuno - che io sappia - ha mai pensato a una nuova corrente di pensiero cattolico-sociale-laica-ma-rispettosa-della-fede-che-guarda-ai-lavoratori-senza-dimenticare-le-imprese-alleata-degli-americani-ma-autonoma-da-bush-e-così-via. Non ha un'idea omnicomprensiva della società da portare avanti. Il partito democratico è il partito pragmatico per eccellenza. E' l'amministrazione più che il governo. Potrà fare tutto e il suo contrario. Per questo il Partito Democratico è al tempo stesso una speranza e una minaccia.
